Food changes everything. We take food into our mouths where digestion starts. Then it goes into our stomachs, it’s assimilated into our blood and cells and it BECOMES PART OF US. So the saying “you are what you eat” really is true!
The body is SMART and it always strives for BALANCE– it tells you when it’s not feeding it properly. You feel sluggish, bloated, achey or maybe you don’t sleep well at night. Often instead of reevaluating the food we put into our bodies, we reach for a quick fix – maybe it’s a cup of coffee or snack from the vending machine.
The body reacts very differently to the Standard American Diet which consists of large amounts of sugar and highly processed foods than one that consists of whole foods. When the body is toxic, the absorption and digestion of key nutrients, amino acids and minerals are inhibited. Enter the detox. Detoxing is about getting your body back on track so it can properly digest, absorb, utilize and eliminate. Detoxing when done correctly will have you feeling energized and have your body functioning the way it was intended. The removal of all the unwanted toxins allows your body to thrive on a cellular level. Other benefits include a rebooted metabolism and the chance to shed extra weight.
We are exposed daily to toxins not only in the food we eat, but also in the products we clean with, use on our skin and those that are released into the air we breathe. Choosing to follow a detox program gives our bodies the chance to rest and helps it perform it’s job in the healthiest way possible.
If you are considering a detox program, be sure that you consult with your physician if you have any preexisting conditions, are pregnant or nursing. To find out more about my gentle, self paced Whole Foods Reset program click here.
